The plastic surgery integrated residency program at the university of california, san francisco (ucsf) is designed to provide comprehensive, integrated training including core general surgery and plastic surgery through the course of a six year clinical program. There is an extensive teaching curriculum covering the entire scope of plastic surgery, and all residents are given the applicants must have a strong medical and surgical background, completion of a required surgical training and should demonstrate a high performance in their basic training. During the first three years the residents spend time both in plastic surgery and general surgery. It was one of the first accredited integrated programs, and recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
